The Wayuu are a proud and resilient tribe living in the semi-desertic peninsula of La Guajira, in Northeastern Colombia. As a matriarchal society, many of the traditions and customs of the Wayuu are preserved by and passed down from mother to daughter.
Biography
ROSA LOPEZ
Rosa Lopez is a 50-year-old elder in a small Wayuu community in Northeast Columbia, in a region called La Guajira. The Wayuu are a matriarchal society and Rosa is responsible for teaching the cultural traditions, including face and body painting for different events, to her daughters and granddaughters.
